As the seasons shift, it’s the perfect time to create new memories with your loved ones. Whether you’re looking to enjoy the great outdoors or cozy up indoors, here are some exciting activities to consider:
Outdoor Activities
- 1. Hiking Adventures
Explore local trails, beaches or parks and witness nature’s transformation of the season. Pack a picnic to enjoy along the way and take advantage of the crisp, refreshing air. Create a list of things for a scavenger hunt. It’s a great way to keep everyone active and engaged!
- 2. Apple Picking
Visit a nearby orchard for a day of apple picking. It’s a fun way to enjoy the season’s bounty and provides plenty of opportunities for tasty homemade apple pies or cider.
- 3. Bonfire Night
Gather around a cozy fire with family and friends, roast marshmallows for s’mores, sip on hot cocoa or cider, and share stories or play games. You can even bring blankets and enjoy some stargazing while soaking in the crisp autumn air. It’s a warm and memorable way to celebrate the season together!
- 4. Scenic Drive
Take a leisurely drive through the countryside to admire the vibrant foliage. Don’t forget to bring your camera to capture the moment.
Indoor Activities
- 1. Baking Day
Gather in the kitchen with family or friends to bake seasonal treats like pumpkin bread, spiced cookies, or apple pies. It’s a warm and rewarding way to spend a chilly day indoors.
- 2. Crafting with Nature
Collect colorful leaves, pine cones, and acorns to create autumn-inspired crafts. Make wreaths, garlands, or decorative centerpieces to bring a touch of nature into your home.
- 3. Movie Marathon
Host a themed movie marathon featuring classic fall or holiday films. Cozy up with blankets, hot cocoa, and popcorn for a relaxing evening in.
- 4. Board Games Night
Dust off your board games and invite family and friends for a night of laughter and friendly competition. It’s a great way to connect and unwind without screens.
Community Events
- 1. Harvest Festivals
I love harvest festivals! Here in Manhattan Beach the season kicks off with our local Hometown Fair, followed later in the season with my favorite Pier Lighting & Holiday Open House. Check out local harvest festivals for a day of fun and festivities. Enjoy live music, food stalls, and craft vendors while soaking in the festive atmosphere.
- 2. Charity Walks
Participate in a charity walk or run to support a good cause while enjoying the beautiful outdoors. It’s a great way to stay active, connect with others, and give back to the community. One of my local favorites this time of year is the Skechers Pier to Pier Friendship Walk in Manhattan Beach, which brings families, friends, and neighbors together each year to raise funds for children with special needs and education.
- 3. Outdoor Film Screenings
Here in California, we’re lucky to have movie magic all around Los Angeles! From rooftop screenings to cozy park setups, there’s no shortage of ways to enjoy a film under the stars. And if you don’t have a local screening or drive-in close by, why not create your own? Here are Tips for Hosting the Ultimate Outdoor Movie Night With Your Crew.
With these activities, you’ll find plenty of ways to celebrate the changing seasons with your family and friends. Whether you’re basking in the beauty of nature or enjoying cozy indoor moments, these experiences are sure to create lasting memories.
