Cook Time 40 minutes

Ingredients

  • 3 Cups Flour
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp Sugar
  • 1 1/2 Tsp Salt
  • 1 Tbsp Olive Oil
  • 1 1/2 Cups Warm Water
  • 1 Packet Yeast (equivalent to 2 1/4 Teaspoons)

OPTIONAL (any or all)

  • 2 Tbsp Sea Salt
  • 1 Tbsp Poppy Seads
  • 1 Tbsp Sesame Seeds
  • 1 Tbsp Flax Seeds

Instructions

  • MIX the flour, sugar, and salt together in a large bowl.
  • MIX the water, oil, and yeast in a small bowl.
  • ADD the yeast mixture to the flour mixture.
  • MIX well.
  • COVER with a towel and let rise for a minimum of one hour.
  • PREHEAT oven (425 degrees).
  • PLACE the Dutch oven (with lid) into the oven.
  • REMOVE dough from the bowl and place it on a floured surface.
  • (If you want to make two small loaves, which I like to do for Charcuterie boards or to accommodate a bigger dinner party, then split the dough into two equal pieces. You will need two smaller Dutch ovens to accommodate the two loaves.)
  • FOLD the dough on top of itself a few times before molding it into a round ball.
  • PLACE the ball onto a large piece of parchment paper.
  • OPTIONAL | Sprinkle the sea salt and/or seeds on top of the ball.
  • REMOVE the Dutch oven from the oven.
  • PLACE the parchment paper with the ball of dough into the Dutch oven.
  • COVER with the lid.
  • PLACE in the oven for 30 minutes.
  • UNCOVER the bread and let bake for an additional 10 minutes.
  • REMOVE bread from the oven.
  • ENJOY!
