Artisan Bread
This bread can be served any time of day. Serve it with a charcuterie board or as a complement to any meal.
Ingredients Â
- 3 Cups Flour
- 1 1/2 Tbsp Sugar
- 1 1/2 Tsp Salt
- 1 Tbsp Olive Oil
- 1 1/2 Cups Warm Water
- 1 Packet Yeast (equivalent to 2 1/4 Teaspoons)
OPTIONAL (any or all)
- 2 Tbsp Sea Salt
- 1 Tbsp Poppy Seads
- 1 Tbsp Sesame Seeds
- 1 Tbsp Flax Seeds
InstructionsÂ
- MIX the flour, sugar, and salt together in a large bowl.
- MIX the water, oil, and yeast in a small bowl.
- ADD the yeast mixture to the flour mixture.
- MIX well.
- COVER with a towel and let rise for a minimum of one hour.
- PREHEAT oven (425 degrees).
- PLACE the Dutch oven (with lid) into the oven.
- REMOVE dough from the bowl and place it on a floured surface.
- (If you want to make two small loaves, which I like to do for Charcuterie boards or to accommodate a bigger dinner party, then split the dough into two equal pieces. You will need two smaller Dutch ovens to accommodate the two loaves.)
- FOLD the dough on top of itself a few times before molding it into a round ball.
- PLACE the ball onto a large piece of parchment paper.
- OPTIONAL | Sprinkle the sea salt and/or seeds on top of the ball.
- REMOVE the Dutch oven from the oven.
- PLACE the parchment paper with the ball of dough into the Dutch oven.
- COVER with the lid.
- PLACE in the oven for 30 minutes.
- UNCOVER the bread and let bake for an additional 10 minutes.
- REMOVE bread from the oven.
- ENJOY!
