Ingredients

  • 2 lbs Potatoes
  • 1 cup Heavy Cream or Whole Milk
  • 1/2 cup Butter
  • 2 cloves Garlic minced
  • 1/2 cup Sour Cream
  • Salt and Pepper to taste
  • Paprika for garnish
  • Fresh Cut Parsley or Chives for garnish

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Potatoes

  • Peel and Chop the Potatoes: Start by peeling the potatoes, then chop them into even-sized chunks. This ensures they cook evenly.

Step 2: Cook the Potatoes

  • Boil Potatoes in a large pot of salted water. Bring the water to a boil, then reduce the heat to medium and cook until the potatoes are fork-tender, about 15-20 minutes.

Step 3: Drain and Mash

  • Drain the Potatoes thoroughly, then return them to the pot.
  • Mash the Potatoes using a potato masher or ricer for the desired consistency.

Step 4: Add Creaminess

  • In a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream or milk, butter, and minced garlic over low heat until the butter melts and the mixture is warm.
  • Pour this warm mixture over the mashed potatoes.
  • Stir in the sour cream.

Step 5: Season and Serve

  • Season with salt and pepper to taste. Mix until everything is well combined and creamy.
  • Garnish with paprika and fresh parsley before serving.

Notes

  • Consistency: After mashing with a masher, consider using a hand or stand mixer for a smoother texture.
  • Flavor: Feel free to add more butter or sour cream for extra richness.
  • Make Ahead: You can prepare this dish in advance and reheat gently over low heat, adding a splash of milk if needed.
